This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify and interpret animal body language and behaviour in an animal control and regulation environment.

This unit applies to individuals who are required to identify animals and respond appropriately to their behaviour, as part of an animal control and regulation role.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.

When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. Assess biosecurity, infection control and hygiene risks and hazards to the public, self, bystanders and target animals 
Discuss constructive solutions to animal behaviour with owners when appropriate 
Provide owners with referral to specialists according to workplace protocols 
Action statutory response to animal behaviour according to workplace protocols 
Accurately enter new or amend existing records of the response in an organisational management system 
Follow organisational policies and procedures and legislative requirements
